IX Water OG for Oil & Gas Produced Water

The IX Water OG treatment train is a series of standardized, scalable modules that provide treatment specific to your needs without the cost and variiability of a custom water treatment plant.  These modules simply link together using standard fittings. Need additional treatment volume? No problem! Our modular design provides you with virtually unlimited scalability. Select only the modules you need to create a system just right for you.

 

Cost will vary depending on influent contamination and for what applications the treated water will be used, but the "all in" cost ranges from $0.27 to $0.47—groundbreaking technology that actually makes treating water cheaper than the cost of dumping it!

1. Produced water is piped or trucked to the treatment location and temporarily stored in tanks. Oil and water is separated using a variety of methods, usually provided by the customer since they want to recover as much oil as possible.

 

2. Produced water is pumped through PartiClear to remove suspended solids (e.g., iron, manganese, sand, grit).

 

3. The water is then pumped through MetalClear where metals, including aluminum, antimony, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, copper, iron, lead, manganese, mercury, nickel, thallium, zinc, etc., are trapped by IxMZ-S media.

 

4. The water is then pumped through the OrganiClear tank, where dissolved and emulsified organic hydrocarbons are trapped and then converted to innocuous by-products (CO2 and water) via IxMZ media. This includes dissolved hydrocarbons (BTEX), polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and NPD (naphtalenes, phenanthrenes, dibenzothiophenes).

 

5. The final step in the IX Water OG system is to remove scalants via MetalClear++ via IxMZ++ media.


The result is clean water, containing salts, which can then be concentrated via a variety of commercial methods, depending on the amount of salt in the water, the intended use of the water, and disposal methodology for the concentrated brine.

The modular design of IX Water machines allows for stand-alone operation or integration with existing treatment systems. Each transportable module treats from 2,000 to 2,500 bbls barrels a day (bbls/day) and can be ganged to process up to 50,000 bbl/day. Increased treatment volume is achieved by adding additional modules.

 

Cost

The total cost for treatment using the IX Water system (CapEx and OpEx) ranges from $0.27 to $0.47 a barrel, depending on contaminants in the water and the intended use of the treated water. Cost per barrel depends on the amount of water treated daily, the specific constituents needing removal, and the ultimate disposition of the water.

 

What We Sell

IX Power Clean Water sells the IX Water system: machines, setup and validation, training, technical support, and maintenance. IX Water is simple enough for a single, part-time operator to mange all functions. The Company can also help customers find qualified personnel, but we do not charge a by-the-barrel fee nor additional licensing costs to use IX Water.

 

Regulatory

Regulations regarding the disposition of oil & gas produced water vary with each state, while national regulations can create additional burdens on operators. IX Power Clean Water is expert at navigating regulations for the treatment and disposition of produced water, and can assist customers in navigating these regulations.

 

Other Methods of Treating Produced Water

The oil and gas industry has been bombarded for years with proposed solutions to their produced water problems. These supposed solutions are promoted using misleading claims and have proven to be fraught with enormous cost over-runs and endless plant add-ons to achieve acceptable results.

PartiClear filters out any particles, oil, and grease remaining from the customer oil recovery process. PartiClear is a 304 stainless steel canister with a replaceable filter and is designed to protect subsequent media from fouling.

For the first time ever, a completely reliable and cost efficient solution is available for the elimination of dissolved organics, VOCs, and BTEX in oil & gas produced water.

 

OrganiClear uses a proprietary, all natural, adsorption media called IxMZ, which is reusable for months to a year of operation, and recharges with nothing more than ambient air.

 

OrganiClear was specifically designed to eliminate organics from produced water, has a low capital cost, is completely effective, integrates with new or existing treatments trains, and costs less than any other dissolved organics treatment.

Ion Exchange

 

 

IX Power Clean Water’s MetalClear ++™ machine combines MetalClear’s ability to remove heavy metals, with additional technology to remove the alkaline earth metals, which commonly cause scale problems. Systems can be designed to effect removal rates of up to 100%.
 
The system employs a combination of IX Water’s specialty formulated ion exchange medias (IxMZ++), to effect metals and scalant removal concurrently. This media was specifically designed and selected to meet the needs of the oil industry; long lasting, low cost, and highly durable. The system itself is very low power, requiring only a feed pump, operates at ambient pressure, and is on-site regenerable with NaCl (table salt), or waste brine from a subsequent salt removal process.
 
Typical configuration includes one MetalClear++ reactor paired with each OrganiClear module. Regeneration is affected through circulation of brine over a several hour period, seamlessly fitting into OrganiClear’s regeneration schedule, though required less frequently.
 
Depending on regeneration technique, high metal waste brine may be held to a volume of less than 1/100th of flow volume. This waste can be safely disposed of along with reject brine from the sites salt removal process, or evaporated and disposed of as solid waste.

The system employs one of IX Water’s specialty formulated ion exchange medias to affect metals removal: IxMZ-S. This media was specifically designed and selected to meet the needs of the oil industry: long lasting, low cost, and highly durable. The system itself is very low power, requiring only a feed pump, operates at ambient pressure, and is on-site regenerable with NaCl (table salt) or waste brine from a subsequent salt removal process.

 

Typical configuration includes one MetalClear reactor paired with each OrganiClear module. Regeneration is effected through circulation of brine over a several hour period, seamlessly fitting into OrganiClear’s regeneration schedule, though required less frequently. Contact Oxidation

 

 

SulfurClear™ is a water purification technology designed for the elimination of H2S, mercaptans, and odor causing bacteria. The process exposes feed water to a strong oxidizing agent chemically bound to an inert substrate. Substrates include natural zeolites and synthetic polymers and are chosen to best meet the customer’s needs.
 
The oxidizing media may be recharged on site using a sodium hypochlorite solution at concentrations similar to household bleach.

Multi-effect Distillation

 

 

SaltClear™ is IX Power Clean Water product for the reduction and removal of TDS from brine. The system is a custom designed vertically stacked tube multi effect distillation system. SaltClear is well suited to varying levels of TDS, can except all types of water chemistry makeup, and uses significantly less power than similar systems (.48 kWh/bbl).
 
SaltClear is a robust system with a lifecycle in the range of 20 years, that requires shutdown and maintenance only once per year, and requires a lower level of operator skill than similar membrane plants.
